We're in the southwest corner of Tennessee, with the Mississippi River and Arkansas to the west and the state of Mississippi to the south. Memphis is in the middle of the Sun Belt and has more sunny days each year than Miami! In the summer temperatures sore above 30 degrees and it gets really humid. Memphis trivia Memphis is home to... FedEx. We should know, the planes come over our house every 10 minutes! St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, where Dave and I work. Its one of the world's premier centers for research and treatment of catastrophic diseases in children. Trade Memphis is the hardwood capital of the world, has the largest spot cotton market in the world and is a manufacturing center for textiles. Celebrities Kathy Bates, Morgan Freeman, George Hamilton and Aretha Franklin and of course, Elvis! Its divided up into 3 or 4 historic districts containing beautiful houses that never have a blade of grass out of place! We've got a huge park, an Art Museum, the Zoo, specialty shops and good bars and restaurants nearby so we're happy! The house is situated behind the huge house you see in the first picture. This year the festival saluted Costa Rica and events celebrating Costa Rican culture occured in art galleris, theatres, museums, and parks across the city. As part of Memphis in May, music lovers from around the globe gathered at Tom Lee Park on the bank of the Mighty Mississippi for three days of blues, rock, gospel, R&B, alternative, and soul as part of the Beale Street Music Festival. The finale of Memphis in May was the Sunset Symphony, an entire day of relaxing on the river followed by the Memphis Symphony Orchestra at sunset and just to top it off, fireworks.
